PHOTOS: Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif Pays Courtesy Call On Ga Mantse

The Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has this weekend paid a courtesy call on Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.

The purpose of the visit was to officially invite the Ga Mantse to the inaugural National Fitness Day.

The Minister was accompanied by the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, and the chief director of the Ministry of Sports, Alhaji Hafiz Adam during the visit.

The Minister during his engagements with the Ga Mantse used the opportunity to explain to the King the objective and benefits of National Fitness Day.

He explained that not only is the day set aside to promote good physical and mental health but it is also to create awareness about fitness and health issues.

He added that the National Fitness Day will be used to promote community and national cohesion, community sports and recreation, provide a platform for talent discovery, active patriotism, good citizenry, and integration while helping to lower blood pressure and improve heart health.

The Ga Mantse and his elders welcomed the Minister and his entourage joyously, accepted the invitation, and encouraged them to spread the importance of physical activities to all and sundry.

The inaugural National Fitness Day would be held on Saturday, September 10, in Accra and across all 16 regions.

Subsequently, it will be held on the second Saturday of every month.
