The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AkosDwomo mining company, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has assured that his firm will undertake their mining operations in a manner that reduces the risk of harm to the natural environment to the barest minimum.
He noted that they will deploy responsible mining measures in their activities at all times.
He had joined a host of geologists (both international and local), officials from the Minerals Investment Income Fund (MIIF), led by the Chief Technical Officer, head of operations, Kwabena Biney on a visit to the site where AkosDwomo is prospecting for the lithium exploration in Essiam locality of the Ajumako Enyan-Esiam District of the Central Region of Ghana.
Speaking to Movement TV, the Ashanti Governor stated that “for us at AkosDwomo mining company ltd., adhering strictly to responsible mining practices will is non-negotiable. This will not only protect Ghana’s natural resources, but also protect us all including the mining communities, and the country will enjoy optimal benefits from mining”.
He was, however, particular about Ghanaian investors. Noting that “although it’s good to have foreign investors, he believes its best to have more Ghanaian investors. In that sense, whatever profits they are making stays in the country with us, which will help boom the economy. However, with the foreigners, once they make the profits, they raise it back to their homeland. So, at the end, although we have huge investors and companies in the country, we would still be battling with financial constraints”.
This is the reason AkosDwomo mining company is working assiduously to ensure that Ghana receives the major share regardless of the kind of investors we get.
Touting the achievement of the mining firm, he noted that the firm has come thus far and at this point, he’s calling on all investors to come on board. “Once you have interest in investing with us, kindly come and let’s have a good negotiation based on the laws that governs his country”, he stated.
Although, AkosDwomo discovered lithium in 2005, the firm had its prospecting license between 2009 and 2010.
