A Presidential candidate hopeful for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Addai-Nimoh, has said that President Akufo-Addo will soon be handing over the baton to him as the Presidential candidate.
According to him, although there have been several conversations on who succeeds President Akufo-Addo after his tenure, he believes the party needs a new face to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.
“We haven’t formed any queue. It’s not a lineal or rotational seat- it’s just transparent. I will soon take the baton from Nana Addo because from 1992, history has showed that we need a new face to in order to break the eight-year jinx. We don’t need anyone that has held a position in the party before, but a new face”, he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show.
He stressed that almost all the potential candidates have held a governmental role, and he doubts a familiar face could help the party break the eight in the 2024 elections.
