A Member of the communications team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Anom Boateng popularly known as Fransoa, has advised President Akufo-Addo to consider reshuffling some of his appointees.
Speaking on the civil and local government Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) strike, he indicated that some of the government appointees do not do their jobs as required.
“Some of the appointees are not doing their job, we need to bring in people who can get the job done and not people who are complacent”, he said
He pointed out that appointments should go thorough scrutiny and called on government to cancel the neutrality allowance.
Kwaku Dawuro, a journalist also added that, “some do even show up at the office but get paid at the end of the month. Neutrality allowance fits into the narration that politics and public office is a money making venture’’.
Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) embarked on a nationwide strike on 21st April, 2022 over unpaid allowances. The workers were demanding the payment of “neutrality allowance,” which is pegged at 20% of their base salary, and is said to be part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) entered into with government on January 20, 2022.
Government said the allowance is to encourage the civil service workers to remain apolitical, but it is not yet firmed up as planned, particularly on the nomenclature which raises concerns among some Ghanaians.
