A rainstorm has caused significant damage to the ICT laboratory of Asare Bediako Senior High School in Akrokere, located in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to Adom News, the Headmistress, Beatrice Kyei, revealed that the storm ripped off the roof of the computer lab, exposing the school’s only 50 computers to potential malfunctions and damage due to rain exposure.
She expressed concern that this could further exacerbate the already inadequate student-to-computer ratio.
“This is a serious setback for the school. With just 50 computers for all our students, the damage to the ICT lab will worsen the shortage and disrupt our academic activities,” she said.
The Headmistress confirmed that she has reported the incident to key stakeholders, including the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the District Director of Education, the District Assembly, and traditional authorities (Nananom).
She appealed for immediate support to re-roof the building and rewire the entire facility to restore the lab and prevent further damage.
“We urgently need assistance to fix the roof and redo the wiring so that we can protect the building and restore the lab for effective teaching and learning,” she added.
