The deputy Minister for Information Hon Fatima Abubakar, has stated the 30% reduction of government appointees’ salary is currently in effect, adding those who claim is false can request for prove through the Right To Information (RTI) Act.
Stressing on government’s quest to ensure a rapid solution to the global crises and inflation, Hon Abubakar said that ‘’rural-urban migration has increased inflation especially in Accra. Out of the 33% inflation rate, Accra constitutes almost 18%. Global cost of living has affected several countries”.
”Two things government adopted to help mitigate the crises included going for loans or reducing expenditure. An unanimous decision was to focus on loans. Government however agreed to the cutting of expenditure. We introduced e-levy which ended up as a political discussion, so we could not achieve our revenue target because of the sabotage. Government was left with expenditure cut. All government appointees’ salary have been reduced by 30%. And that has taken effect. Anyone who doubt can go for prove through the Right To Information (RTI) Act”.
She added that government is working tirelessly to revamp the economy.
