A presidential staffer, Alexander Martey has urged embattled ousted Assin North MP, Gyakye Quayson to withdraw from contesting the by-election.
He said it will be better for him to stay off from the election if he thinks his contest will attract sympathy votes for the NDC because there’s no way the indigenes would want for him.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) should not think the party will win sympathy votes during the Assin North by-election. It will be an open contest. Whoever is advising him his doing him a bad service …because come what may, there’s no way he will win the by-election. Electorate of Assin North wouldn’t want to have someone facing criminal charges as their Member of Parliament (MP)”, he admonished.
He added that he will by all means garner some votes from the NDC but not from the kingmakers of Assin North.
He cast doubt that the strategy adopted by the National Democratic Congress to re-introduce the ousted MP as their candidate for the by-election, will work out.
Mr. Martey further advised that the NPP shouldn’t leave any stone unturn because the seat belongs to the NPP.
