A Pro- Bawumia group, “Bawumia Must Win” has given former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuano, Samuel Ayeh Paye, a 24-hour ultimatum to retract his religious comment against Bawumia.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show, the President of the group, Dr. Gyesi Boako, noted that Muslims and Christians had lived in peace and harmony and such religious comments must not be entertained to destroy the ever-good relations between the two religious groups.
“Even in some areas, its jus a wall that separates churches from mosques- Muslims are able to marry Christians and vice versa. So, when it comes to religious politics, we should be very careful. Samuel Ayeh Paye, was in a media house last Friday and some utterances he made were so bad”, he said.
Adding that “we are giving him 24 hours to come out and apologize. What we should be looking at as a political party, is elections 2024. So, if today you say you don’t need the votes of Muslims and therefore, we should vote against a Muslim because of your candidate, what happens if a Muslim is finally elected as flagbearer for the party”.
He further called on the Christians Council, Chief Imam and all other religious groups to publicly condemn what Samuel Ayeh-paye had said.
“We are pleading with Alan Kyeremanten to also condemn such utterances, if only he doesn’t support it but if he’s does, then he should make it known to Ghanaians, because Ayeh Paye is his eastern regional coordinator”, he noted.
Stressing that “if he doesn’t come out to apologize, we know how to go about how campaign too”.
He was however quick to add that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best candidate for the NPP and will subsequently become the economist as President of Ghana.
