A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Annom Boateng, popularly known as Fransoa, has expressed worry over the conduct of some government officials.
According to him, the communications bureau of the government is not functioning up to expectation.Â
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Political Show, Fransoa explained that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) should be updating Ghanaians on the revenue accrued so far, following the implementation of the Electronic Transfer levy (e-levy) after a month on.Â
“It’s a month now since the GRA began the collection of the E-levy, and in order to ensure there’s accountability for the revenue accrued, GRA should by now have informed Ghanaians on how much the authority has received so far. This has become necessary due to the controversy surrounding the implementation of the tax. It is definitely going to create room for the NDC to propagate its lies, as they are surely going to hold a press conference on this”, he lamented.Â
“I just cannot phantom why a committee must be set up to provide simple information like this. How difficult is it to make it known to Ghanaians how much GRA has received from the 1st of May , 2022 when it began collection of the revenue till the 31st of May”, he asked.Â
He noted that this makes the job of the party communicators difficult, as they are unable to answer certain questions in defense of the government.Â
The Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA), began the collection of the E-levy on Sunday May 1, 2022 as the authority noted that it has broadly consulted all relevant stakeholders.Â
However, the implementation of the E-levy caused anxiety among some Ghanaians as some sections of the populace said that they will resort to cash transactions to avoid paying the levy.Â
