A member of the NPP communications team, Ellen Ama Daaku shared her concerns about the potential impact of the upcoming election on the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
She cautioned that a change in government could lead to the policy’s cancellation, resulting in increased costs for families.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV, Madam Daaku specified that this could include expenses such as bedding, textbooks, uniforms, and school fees, potentially totaling around 30,000 cedis.
“Start making preparations for Thirty-Thousand Ghana cedis 30,000 cedis, if you don’t vote wisely and have John and Grandma come into power, you should be prepared to sell your clothes, lands and jewelries. Because once they assume power, they will cancel the free SHS policy. Mind you, if you were paying 4000-7000 thousand Ghana cedis, some eight years ago before Nana Addo came into power, the price will change, you will be paying about 30,000 Ghana cedis because you will buy bed, Books, uniforms, school fees and other things…”, she said.
“But if you know you cannot afford this amount, then start campaigning for NPP, to consolidate the gains of the free SHS,” she added.
Daaku encouraged listeners to consider the implications of their votes on the free SHS policy, emphasizing the importance of supporting a party that aligns with their values on education. She criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their stance on the policy.
She questioned his motivations and implied that his decision to seek re-election is shameless.
