An established political researcher, Dr. Smart Sarpong is calling on the New Patriotic Party to organize an early congress in electing their next flagbearer.
Dr. Sarpong in an interview on Wontumi TV stated that going by that is “crucial” and would enable the NPP staying ahead of their main political opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“An early congress is crucial”, he said adding that “the barometer that weuse to study the political climate shows that it become difficult to keep up when you allow your opponent to take the lead”.
The NPP is yet to announce modalities for the election of the person to lead the NPP into the next election.
Several names of bigwigs in the party like Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, and former Agric Minister, Dr. Afriyie Akoto have announced their intentions to contest the flagbearership position.
