The Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has challenged the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) to provide evidence of vote buying by the NPP during the Assin North by-election.
The man described as an election winning machine (Chairman wontumi) told CODEO to exhibit neutrality in their reports rather than taking sides.
This comes after CODEO had sighted in an aftermath report that the NPP had tried influencing electorates with money to cast their votes in favour of the NPP.
However, Chairman wontumi noted that if the organization had wanted to be neutral in their report, then they should have also cited NDC in the report because he red-handedly caught NDC executives sharing GHS400 each to electorates in a room, to influence their vote.
“So is CODEO trying to say they didn’t see that NDC was sharing money to electorates in Assin north. I don’t tell lies. If CODEO is an independent organization then they should behave as such. I went there with the media and there are proves to that so if CODEO claims NPP had engaged in vote buying then they should have also provided proves and evidence to that effect”, he spoke to Kwaku Dawuro.
