The Member of Parliament for Tano North and Minister of State at the Office of the President Freda Prempeh, has taken a swipe on the NDC for criticizing the government of borrowing.
She said unlike the NDC which borrowed to plant trees in the dry season, the NPP is using loans contracted to the benefit of Ghanaians.
“In percentage wise, the NDC added more than a thousand percent to the debt inherited from Former President Kufuor, whereas the NPP has added a little over three hundred precent to what they inherited from Former President Mahama, upon all the major infrastructure projects going on in the country”, she concluded.
She stated that MPs challenging President Akufo – Addo’s assertion that his government has constructed more roads than any government in Ghana, should check the records before coming out to challenge the President.
In a telephone interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement Television and Wontumi radio in Accra, Hon. Freda Prempeh noted that every government, since independence constructed some roads but when you compare records the Nana Addo – led NPP government’s achievement in the road sector is unprecedented and must be commended by all.
“What Nana Akufo – Addo was talking about during the State of Nation’s address was documented ones and that there are on – going projects which the president didn’t even add to the one he was talking about. I will therefore ask the critics to check the records from the relevant institutions”, she said.
Hon. Freda Prempeh urged Ghanaians to stop lamenting on the current economic crisis and count our blessings because the President has been able to put things in place to mitigate the suffering of Ghanaians.
Adding that “in advance countries, citizens are finding it difficult to acquire the needed foodstuff and other needs in spite of the fact that they have the purchasing power”.
