A communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freda Agyemang, has said that Sammy Gyamfi and Ofosu Ampofo lack regard for their supporters.
He said this after Arise Ghana Youth demonstrators went against the court to embark on what was seen as a riot.
The court ordered the group to embark on its demonstrations but however restricted their time from 3pm to 10pm to 8am to 4pm, and instructed they begin from Kwame Nkrumah circle to Independence Square all in Accra. The group however did not oblige to the rules of the court, but rather used the unapproved route. The disagreement over the route led to the demonstrators pelting stones at the police.
While speaking on the issue Freda said, ”you are going on a demonstration to petition the government. Did Ofosu Ampofo, Sammy Gyamfi and Asiedu Nketia get hurt? Did any of their family members get hurt? This clearly shows that they have no regard for their supporters because if they do, they wouldn’t have allowed any of them resort to violence”.
”Bernard Monarh the former chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) wants to be relevant by allowing himself to be used by the NDC”, she stated.
She added that the NDCs must be blamed for the uncalled act of the protesters.
”This is not demonstration, they went for a riot”, she added.
