A commutator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ismael Adams, has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to leave the Electoral Commission (EC) to do their job.
His comment comes after the deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Asare Bossman, said the Ghana card will be used to register for the 2024 elections.
Following this, the NDC issued a statement on 6th August 2022, saying they have no knowledge on the decision of EC and that they were not part of the decision making process after they failed to appear at the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings.
While speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, he said that ‘’if parliament approves of IPAC’s decision, the Ghana card will be used to register for the 2024 elections. Ghanaians must take the Ghana card seriously and should not listen to the propaganda. I plead with the National Identification Authority (NIA’s) boss, Professor Ken Attafuah, to ensure the smooth operation of the Ghana card registration”.
He added that ”the NDC’s have risen against the registration of the card because they used opaque ballot boxes to rig the elections, and now they are afraid of the elections being rigged. The NPP’s do not have the energy to rig elections. The NDC’s should leave the EC alone to do their job’’.
Mr. Adams stressed on the importance of the Ghana card because it has become a form of national identity.
