Tax On Bet Will Push The Youths To Work Hard To Earn Their Own Money- Korsi Bodja

Volta Regional organiser for the New Patriotic Party, Korsi Bodja, says the recent tax on bet will be a force for Ghanaian youths to work hard to earn money.

Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Korsi Bodja noted that the introduction of 10% on betting and lottery winnings will motivate Ghanaians especially the youths, to venture into businesses and become industrious, hence earn money from their sweats. He indicated that Government will utilise the tax on developmental projects.

According to Korsi Bodja ”We all agree that the recent skyrocketing of betting which our youths are engaged in, and becoming dependent on is very dangerous for the future. Moving forward, if we do not come up with an antidote for the betting and lottery which has got the attention of everyone, the results will be bad.

If the person engaged in betting allows it to get into their heads due to consistent wins and loses a day, they will be swayed to venture into robbery, hard drugs, weed and others, because they don’t suffer to make that money, so to even invest is a problem. If Government places a tax on it to deter the youth in order to let them know the future is in our own hands, if you get yourself educated, you’ll get the income you’re supposed to get.”
