The Attack On CITI FM Journalist While Covering Vetting Of The NDC PCs Is A Wakeup Call To The IGP- Maame Afia Akoto

Aspiring NPP Parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei North, Maame Afia Akoto, has noted that the scuffle that ensued during the NDC parliamentary primary for Odododiodio is a wake-up call to the IGP.

According to her, there was the need for the IGP to start issuing red alerts to some constituencies in the run up to the 2024 election.

She further challenged the communications Director for the NDC, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi to come out publicly and condemn the act of the NDC youth that resulted in the injury of a CITIV FM/TV journalist, Akosua Okyere.

She spoke in an exclusive interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV.

A journalist of Citi TV and Citi FM, Akosua Otchere, was on Friday, October 13, 2023, attacked while covering the vetting of the parliamentary candidate hopefuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodio constituency in Accra.

Ms. Otchere was attacked by some NDC thugs, who twisted her hand and snatched her phone.

“When some NPP youth had invaded the studios of UTV, Sammy Gyamfi made a whole write up, saying all sort of things against the party, when there were no causalities recorded. They went there on a friendly note. Today, it’s with the NDC. Look at what they’ve caused the CITI FM/TV journalist. The IGP must act swiftly. This shouldn’t only be an apology from the party”, she emphasized.

“This was only an internal election between the same party, and this is happening. This is a wake-up call to the IGP and the Ghana Journalist Association”, she pleaded.
