The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Greater Accra Region, Sabo Adams, says the Ghana card and sim card re-registrations is essential for election 2024 as it will help prevent non-citizens from voting.
Mr. Adams said this when he joined the panel discussion on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro on Wednesday 3rd August, 2022.
Speaking he said, ”there are several foreigners in the country who easily troop in through the border towns but because they end up speaking the local dialect, they are able to register and vote, and most of them become a burden to the economy. The Ghana card is coming to cure this-it is not to the benefit of any party but the country as a whole.
”Ghana is part of the countries that have grown rapidly in terms of internet banking transactions, if care is not taken, fraudulent activities will be high and people will lose money to fraudsters. Today, most people bear similar names and the only thing that can differentiate between these people is their bio data. The sim card re-registration will also reduce mobile theft. I don’t see why some people are dragging their feet when the thing is actually going to benefit them”, he added.
He advised Ghanaians to take the registration exercise very serious.
