Governance expert, Dr Isaac Yamoah, has stated that the National Cathedral will promote Ghana’s tourism.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Dr Yamoah said that countries that have built Cathedrals have improved economically.
‘’A lot of people are speaking against the building of the Cathedral because they are not aware of the long term benefit. To some extent I understand why some people are speaking against the project. They are concerned about the current economic condition-however it doesn’t mean that government cannot prioritize”, he said.
He believes that the President is aware of the benefit the country will derive from the Cathedral, providing employment and increasing the nation’s revenue through tourism.
”The National Cathedral move is geared towards the socio-economic transformation of the country. We can’t wait till the economy is perfect before we can focus on infrastructural development and monuments. We look at jubilee house today with pride, in the same way some years to come we will appreciate building the Cathedral”, he added.
He further stated , “I do not agree to economic scarcity because there is no scarcity anywhere. There is abundance and it takes visionary leadership to design mechanism for equality, fair share and social justice”.
He indicated that critics from the opposition party is supposed to put the ruling government in check but the two major political party leaders are power drunk.
”Regulate politics to policies and invest in the human capital”, he advised.
