The NDC Can Never Win An Election Without Tribal Politics- Awal Mohammed Asserts

A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awal Mohammed, has asserted that there’s no way the NDC can ever win an election without tribal politics.

He cited the Tamale South seat as an example, which is occupied by the NDC, represented by Haruna Iddrisu.

Awal Mohammed alleges that but for the Dagbon conflicts, Haruna Iddrisu comes nowhere near the seat because it was a seat occupied by Alhaji Mustapha Hamid, who represented the NPP.

He spoke on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio with Kwaku Dawuro

“Haruna Iddrisu is a Member of Parliament because of the Dagbon conflict. When the issue of Ya-Na came up, Haruna Iddrisu presented himself to the electorates as an Andani person in order to win the hearts of the people to vote for him…and now they claim he has become an invincible who cannot be voted out. But that is our seat and they got it through tribal politics…divide and rule tactics”, he said.

Furthering that it’s for this reason that the NDC gets frightened whenever Bawumia’s name is mentioned because they know that if Bawumia is elected as Flagbearer for the NPP, it will be difficult for them to get the overwhelming support of the Zongo.

“The NDC getting the overwhelming support of Zongo would never be possible again if Bawumia leads the NPP and that’s why they keep fighting against that”, he added.
