The constituency first Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Dome-Kwabenya, Paul Opoku, has disclosed the rationale behind the frequent attack of the Electoral Commission (EC) by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Noting that it’s because the NDC knows it will definitely lose the 2024 general elections and in a bid to cover up their lose, they have decided to pick up a brawl with the EC in order to Fault the commission for their failure when it happens in 2024.
“The country is governed by laws. In any case, he NDC is the same party that passed a bill in parliament making the Ghana card the sole identity for all Ghanaians, but later regretted doing so and thus, after 8 years of its passage, it wasn’t implemented, and the government is only enforcing the bill which was passed. If you are a Ghanaian and genuinely you want to register your sim or use the Ghana card for its required services, it should be a big deal for you to go and register”, he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Movement TV/Wontumi Radio.
Adding that “In 2024, the NDC know they will come nowhere closer to the presidency and with general election, there’s nothing like number 2, when you lose, that’s it. So, when they lose again like they did in 2016 and 2020, they will need something to dwell on and use as an excuse for their failure. Because they wouldn’t know what to tell their supporters in order not for them to fault John Mahama- hence, the reason they will want to paint a picture for people to think that the NPP is in bed with the EC, like they did in 2020, when they didn’t even know the votes, they had yet they challenged the results in court”
Mr. Opoku stressed that Ghanaians are getting wiser everyday kind courtesy President Akufo-Addo’s free SHS policy and therefore, Mahama and the NDC cannot continue to deceive Ghanaians.
“The NDC is just an empty barrel. if they think they’ve genuine concerns then they should go to court”, he concluded.
