Spokesperson for Vice President of the republic Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Gideon Boako, has disclosed that from the look of things, he wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that any of the aspirants contending Bawumia for the flagbearership race of NPP, is being sponsored by the NDC.
He noted that Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate that poses a threat to the NDC and as such, they are capable of doing everything possible to ensure that he never leads the party into the 2024 general election.
“NDC as a political party has three strongholds that gives them massive votes despite the fact that other areas also vote in favour of the NDC…these are the Northern, Volta region and Zongo communities…this is the reason for which when they go to the Volta region, they tell the voltarians that the NPP hates Akan and thus, they shouldn’t vote for the NPP and it’s the same thing they do when they visit areas like the Krobo…they incite the people against the party…Don’t forget that when Mahama went the northern region, he told them that there’s no way the NPP will vote for a northerner to lead…and thus, if we make the mistake of choosing someone lese over Dr. Bawumia, then Mahama will be vindicated”, he explained.
“Mahama had already told northerners that the NPP is using Bawumia for their parochial interest and they can never make him their flagbearer…we shouldn’t allow this to happen…If Bawumia is elected, then we’ve collapsed the campaign messages of the NDC against Dr. Bawumia…their strongholds will be shattered”, he added.
