The Railway Authorities Are Not Ready To Fight Against The Railway Track Theft – Amasaman MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive, for Ga West, Honourable Clement Wilkinson has opined that the railway authorities are not ready to fight the ongoing railway track theft.

According to him, he is not to be blame for the ongoing theft but the railway authorities. They are not showing any concern about the issue.

“I solely blame the railway authorities. Personally, I have been to the railway ministry for three consecutive times and had to engage the Chief Director. I chanced on a letter circulated that suggested that the deputy minister for railways had ordered for the removal of railway tracks, so I quickly has to speak to the Chief Director, and they mentioned they know nothing about the letter”, he said.

He spoke on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio with Kwaku Dawuro.

“Ga West, Ga North and Nsawam Adoagyiri are affected by the ongoing railway track theft. The MCEs haven’t given us any letter showing people are coming for the railway. In the beginning, we were chasing them with the police. Some were even locked in cells for some days before they were later on released. If the information gets to the authorities, nobody comes forward to talk about it, but now I have seen some of the authorities showing concern”, he added.

He furthered that when the suspects are arrested, none of the railway officials show up when they are called on. Meanwhile, this is a serious criminal offense.
