The incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has retained his seat-breaking the 8 record. This according to many is a dawn of hope for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He was re-elected as the chairman for the 3rd time beating Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Coka, his closest contender.
Chairman Wontumi first won the regional chairman position in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018. Before this, he was the constituency chairman for the Bosomtwe district located in the central part of the Ashanti Region.
In his victory speech, he said, “I stand on behalf of everyone to say thank you all for giving us the opportunity. NPP is a great party with many supporters; if such a party is handed over to you, it won’t have it easy. I know we have all picked our lessons. We ask for forgiveness from anyone we might have offended, and if anyone offended us, we have forgiven them. We need to be united to break the 8 in 2024’’.
Breaking the 8 is possible, but all hands are needed on board to ensure its manifestation.
