Their Loss If They Don’t Select You- Dr. Adutwum Reveals 16-Year-Old’s Advice Before Running Mate Nomination

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has revealed that he wasn’t worried when he wasn’t selected as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate in the 2024 elections.

According to Dr. Adutwum, his 16-year-old child had earlier told him, “If they don’t select you, it will be their loss, don’t worry at all.”

This conversation stuck with him, and when his name wasn’t mentioned among the selected candidates, he remembered his child’s words and remained unphased.

He spoke with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi morning show on Wontumi TV.

Dr. Adutwum’s calm demeanor contrasts with speculation surrounding his potential candidacy. Some analysts considered him a strong contender due to his reputation as a diligent leader, particularly in his role as Education Minister. In fact, a survey revealed that Dr. Adutwum was the preferred running mate for Dr. Bawumia, with 53.14% of the vote, over Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who was eventually chosen.

Despite not being selected, Dr. Adutwum expressed happiness about the possibility of serving as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate, stating he would have been delighted to contribute to the nation’s governance. The NPP ultimately chose Dr. Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate.
