There’s No IGP Who Never Lobbied For The Position Since The Days Of Kwame Nkrumah-Philip Twum Yeboah

A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Philip Twum Yeboah is of the view that the brouhaha happening regarding the IGP’s leaked audio tape is not anything new.

According to him, there are worser things than this, that has happened before. However, the reason for which, this very one has become an issue is due to the leaked audio tape.

On the issue of lobbying for the IGP position, he noted that it is very true.

“There’s no IGP since Independence who could say that he never lobbied for the position…they all did. They have been several back biting to the extent that there are some who even threats to kill others, due to the IGP position. So, the very current one is just a tip of the iceberg. However, I can say that nothing will come out of this committee probing. It always happens”, he said.

He said on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV with Kwaku Dawuro.

He went further to suggest that the appointment of IGP shouldn’t be done only by the President. He was of the view that the President should only nominate candidates for the position, and hand them over to the Police Council to choose one.

“This is the best way to solve some of these things. Else, we will continue to always face these issues”, he said.
