A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP),Patrick Awuku, has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is doing what they are best described for and can never do better than the NPP.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, he said that “I wonder what they would have done if COVID-19 was in Ghana only and wasn’t declared as a pandemic. Where in the history of this world has an entire airport across the globe been shut down before? They speak as though Ghana is an island therefore the economic crisis we are facing is as a result of mismanagement. They are in opposition therefore they do everything opposite”.
Stressing that “even the IMF delegation has made it known that our current economic turbulence is as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war yet, the NDC’s are still blaming NPP, President Nana Addo and Hon. Ken Ofori Atta”.
According to him, the NPP made the country attractive to investors pre-COVID-19 and a classical example of the benefit is the year of return initiative which raked in a lot of revenue to the state.
“Things were better prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 and so if it’s no longer the same, we should adjust to the current situation and know it’s due to the pandemic”, he pleaded.
“I know the NDC doesn’t like education left to them alone anything about education should be scrapped. When Former president Kufuor introduced national health insurance scheme (NHIS), look at the hullabaloo it caused. They have nothing better to offer”, he added.
In furtherance, he said that the NDC should provide an alternative. “They are not telling us which offer they are providing but saying things otherwise. There’s no way the NDC could do better than we are doing”, he concluded.
