Lithium exploration
AkosDwomo company limited is the first fully Ghanaian owned mining company to discover huge lithium deposit owned by Chairman Wontumi.
Located in Essiam at the outskirt of Mankessim in the Central region, drilling has already started as part of the company’s prospecting process.
Speaking with the Chief Principal Geologist of AkosDwomo Company Limited, Rockson Kofi told Movement TV that with the experience that AkosDwomo has in the mining industry, this is more or less like a mainstream exploration company that is going to be developing to mining.
He noted that they’ve already started with the grassroot mapping which has helped them identify the various pegmatite bodies, which he believes are the ones that normally contains the lithium. Hence, their target was to identify over the entire concession, the pigmented bodies that are cropping.
“We have started drilling about 2000 meters of all diamonds and that will help us to understand the physical composition of the various pigmented bodies that we have targeted to draw…fortunately for us, the first two holes that we have done are showing quite a cause grain crystal of an expungement, which is very positive for us as a company. We think that as we keep the program going, we should be able to come up with a very good discovery as compared to other areas that we have helped to identify. And we hope that as the drilling continuous, the company’s name will continue to air in the country so that people will know that the 100% owned Ghanaian company is indeed also doing exploration to discover a huge lithium deposit…”, Mr. Kofi explained.
In furtherance, he called on investors who want to invest in any lithium projects in West Africa to consider AkosDwomo company limited.
“I think first of all, the stability in the country has Ghana is a very good environment for them to come and invest. Secondly, I’m sure when you(journalist) came, we’ve shown you what we have brought from the ground to show the intercession of the lithium at the expungement mineralization that we have seen and that is a very positive direction for a company that’s exploring for lithium and so, that is a motivating message and news for investors all over the world who want to be part of AkosDwomo story”, he said.
“I think every Ghanaian institution is supposed to support so that those who are interested in mining investments, would sort of support the ownership of the company so that they can get more funding in order to speed up the exploration. With this, we can conclude the discovery as quick as possible…”, he added.
Speaking on responsible mining, Mr. Kofi noted that all the necessary procedures will be taken into consideration relating with EPA and minerals commission very frequently.
“Even in the drilling program, you see that all the flute which are contaminant to the ground have all been protected so that they don’t enter the soil. This tells you that the company is very conscientized on the environment in terms of pollution and therefore, we can assure that even with the community, we are doing everything possible to have very good relationship with. As the discovery keep developing, obviously there are social programs and intervention programs that will be put in place by AkosDwomo mining in order to support the society that the deposit is found within their community…”, he stressed.
