A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Awal Mohammed, has stated that the Special Prosecutor must be commended for its recent corruption exposé, involving the Labianca Company Limited.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Awal Mohammed noted that ”since the setting up of the office of the Special Prosecutor in 2018, this is the first time the office has yielded a positive result. He’s done very well. What we were a bit not okay with was when he indicated that a case the former special prosecutor, Martin Amidu had begun with regards to Mahama Ayariga, he, Kissi Agyabeng cannot continue to pursue the case because he has no concrete evidence to do so. It’s good Labianca company admitted and paid the money”.
This comes after the Office of the Special Prosecutor had recovered an amount of one million, seventy-four thousand, six hundred and twenty-seven cedis, fifteen pesewas (GHC1,074,627.15) through the issuance of an interim directive to Labianca Company Limited, owned by Ms. Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, a member of the Council of State and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority (GPHA).
