An aide to the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kojo Kyeremanten, Benjamin Akowuah has said that this is the right time for the former to resign.
This comes on the back of some comment made after the former minister tendered in his resignation, as some Ghanaians had described that as disappointing, in the sense that Ghana is still reeling under the effect of the global crisis which had affected our economy and as such, this wasn’t the right time for him to resign.
But responding to critiques on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, Akowoah noted that this is the right time for Alan Kyeremanten to resign, as he’s been able to salvage the economy crisis.
“He’s not leaving at a time the ship is sinking. However, things were very difficult when he was appointed and even in the last quarter of 2022- a time when prices of fuel were skyrocketing, and the cedi was depreciating against the dollar. He was among the few who stood firm and spoke to Ghanaians to bring hope to the citizenry”, he said.
Recounting that “when Alan Cash as he’s affectionately called appeared on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, he denied speaking on his Presidential Ambition, noting that it wasn’t the right time to do so. What was needed at the time was to explain to Ghanaians the kind of policies and measures the government was introducing to salvage the economic crisis”.
According to the Aide of the former Minister, Alan Kyeremanten has been faithful to the government and Ghanaians, by sticking during the thick and thin. Stressing that he’s ensured that the economy has bounced back, as the negotiations with the IMF has reached an advanced stage.
“But this is also to give others the opportunities to serve in the Akufo-Addo led administration. This is also the right time to resign, just so to pursue other agenda”, he added.
