Tug Of War Becomes 50th Sporting Discipline Recognised In Ghana

The Ghana Tug of War Association (GTOWA) is the latest Sporting Discipline to receive its probational recognition as a national sports association from the National Sports Authority.

Presenting the probational letter, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi commended the Association for the efforts taken to attain its national status.

He added that the sport has over the years been developed and grown to gain the recognition of becoming the 50th sports federation in Ghana.

The NSA boss disclosed that the GTOWA can now represent the country at the international level and tasked them to take advantage of the 6-month probational period to meet the outstanding requirements.

Prof. Twumasi further commended them on their constitution and the many sporting events they have carried out targeting the grassroots.

He urged them to organize national congresses and assured them of the Authority’s willingness to offer both technical and administrative assistance whilst regulating their activities as the Sports Law demands.

On his part, the President for the Ghana Tug of War Association (GTOWA) Mr. Emmanuel Ola Williams, reassured Prof. Twumasi of his commitment to work together with the NSA for the development of the sport, adding that his experience in active years in participating in grassroots sports would be vital in that regard.
