The Black Princesses of Ghana endured a heavy thumping in their last group game of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup as they crashed out.
Ben Fokuo and his charges were hopeful of ending their campaign on a high against the Netherlands after two defeats in their opening games.
However, they were handed their heaviest defeat in the competition on Wednesday night, losing with a 1-4 score.
The Europeans took a first-half lead through Liz Rijsbergen, who scored after 28 minutes paid.
Doris Boaduwaa scored Ghana’s only goal of the game after the Netherlands had doubled their lead but her goal could only be a consolation as Rijsbergen scored her second in the 65th minute while Marit Auee also got on the scoresheet.
The result means the Black Princesses failed to take a point from the tournament, their worst performance since 2012 when they failed to score in any of their three games.
Ghana’s quest to go past the group stage for the first time was also not achieved with attention being tuned to the next edition of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
