Isaac Dogboe expressed his disappointment after the judges ruled against him in Saturday night’s WBO Featherweight world title fight against Robeisy Ramirez.
The Ghanaian boxer was aiming to become only the third Ghanaian to win a world title in two divisions, but the former WBO junior-featherweight title holder lost in a thrilling night of boxing at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.
Ramirez, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, won by unanimous decision with scores of 117-110, 118-109, and 119-108.
He started the fight strongly, wobbling Dogboe with a counter left hand in the opening round, and continued his relentless attack in the following round.
Although Dogboe landed some body shots in the fourth round, Ramirez established control by the sixth round, landing consecutive left hands on Dogboe.
Reflecting on the defeat, which is his third as a professional, Dogboe tweeted, “It’s disappointing not to get the decision. But we learn something from it. Congratulations to the new Champion Robeisy Ramirez. I thank The LORD for everything, I know He’s not done with me yet. Greater things ahead.”
