A Senior Lecturer in Finance and Economics at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. Eric Boachie Yiadom, has shed light on the reasoning behind conducting early research on election results.
According to Dr. Yiadom, the primary objective of this research is to provide political parties with accurate data on their standing in the election.
By leveraging science and data, the research aims to prevent any potential manipulation of results, ensuring a fair representation of the voting outcome.
The study, conducted between October and November, also sought to gauge the direction of voting trends. Interestingly, Dr. Yiadom predicts that the 2024 trends will mirror those of 2016 and 2020.
To achieve a representative sample, the researchers randomly selected 1,380 electoral areas out of 6,700, spanning 276 constituencies. Within these electoral areas, 3 polling stations were chosen, and 7 registered voters were selected from each station, resulting in a total sample size of 28,029 registered voters out of 1.186 billion.
Dr. Yiadom shared these insights during a phone call with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
