VIDEO: Kudus, Thomas Partey To Be Axed From Black Stars Under Mahama- Former NPP MP Reacts

A former Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma Central Constituency, has taken a swipe at former President John Mahama for insinuating that under his Presidency, foreign based footballers will not get to play in the Black Stars team.

Hon. Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh Nartey, in an interview on the Ghana Nti show which airs on Wontumi Radio, Accra, stated that he disagrees with the motive by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to run a national team without the support of foreign based players.

He pointed out that despite the poor show the Black Stars put on at the recently held AFCON, it took a player like Mohammed Kudus- a foreign based player to put smiles on the faces of many Ghanaians.

“Perish my thought but if Mahama becomes President, he wants to tell us that Kudus won’t play for the Black Stars again? Thomas party and the rest won’t play… Even in Argentina they have local teams but they still call on their foreign players to come and play for their national team”, Hon. Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh Nartey explained.

He continued that unlike Mr. Mahama who wants to wear players of the national team the colours of the NDC under his leadership, vice President Mahamudu Bawumia approach to the sports department is worth emulating.

“He (Bawumia) says when he becomes President we will get academies and training centres to help the sport business and tourism aspect. He won’t come and establish local black stars and become the coach himself. You can’t do away with the foreign players”, he noted.
