Government’s spokesperson on social services, Alhaji Fofana has opined that the recent disturbance during the Limited Voter Registration Exercise in Kukuom, Ahafo Region, is a wakeup call to all Ghanaians.
This comes after police report suggested Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda’s involvement in the disturbances that marred the registration process.
According to Alhaji Fofana, Collins Dauda must be dealt with severely.
“He should get to know that he’s not above the law and thus, cannot choose to do what pleases him, regardless of the consequences. His brother, Naaba and Eric Opoku should equally be dealt with. They should face the full rigors of the law…”, he said in an interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV.
“This is only a limited registration and not voting. Yet, there were armed civilians with guns. You could imagine what would have happened, if we were voting. These hoodlums were able to intimidate the entire community. This should be a wakeup call to all of us”, he added.Â
The lawmaker was arrested by the police over the weekend for his alleged involvement in some disturbances at a registration centre on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
One person reported sustained injuries following the violent incident.
