Henry Kwabena Kokofu, the Director-General of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has said that the Ashanti Region has put in place measures to ensure every constituency in the region wins the Presidential vote by 80% in the 2024 election.
Speaking with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, the host of Movement TV political show, he stated that the committee for every constituency shall ensure there is fairness and firmness in the upcoming constituency election to guarantee free and fair election.
“A six-member committee has been set to address any complaint that may arise during the election process. I want to remind all aspirants that, the election is a contest, and in every contest, there is victory and defeat. Accept the aftermath and channel all your energy to help NPP win a 80% vote in every constituency, coming 2024”, he said.
He stressed that forms are now sold online and that it is a way the party intends to curb mishandling and corruption in constituency elections.
The arrangements according to him, will help reduce unfairness and favouritism; ensuring that the right people occupy the various positions.
He encouraged aspirants to take note of the following dates;
- 19th to 20th April 2022, nominations shall be opened for picking forms.
- Vetting shall be held on the 21st and 22nd of April.
- 23rd to 24th will be opened for anyone who has an appease which will be done to the National committee chairman.
- The voting date is set for 28th to 2nd May 2022.
The positions to contest for are;
Constituency Chairperson, the first Constituency Vice Chairperson, the second Constituency Vice Chairperson, the Constituency Secretary, the Constituency Assistant Secretary; the Constituency Treasurer, the Constituency Organiser, the Constituency Women Organiser, the Constituency Youth Organiser and the Constituency Nasara Coordinator.
The amount for the form;
- Chairmanship- 500 cedis
- Other positions- 200 cedis
