‘We Didn’t Play Badly’ – Hearts Coach After 3-0 Defeat At Karela

Hearts of Oak assistant coach David Ocloo remains positive despite their 3-0 loss to Karela on Saturday at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.

The Phobians had hoped to continue their recent unbeaten streak under their stop-gap coach, but, they were humbled by a brilliant Karela side.

Emmanuel Boakye Owusu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 17th minute, and later on, Hearts defender Konadu Yiadom unluckily scored an own goal, followed by a goal from Richard Berko, cementing the victory for Karela.

To add to their woes, defender Rashid Okine picked up a red card following a late tackle just before half-time.

“It’s a bad day but I think we didn’t play badly,” Ocloo said after the game.

In spite of the he thought there were a few bad decisions among his defenders as well as his attackers.

“Defensively we were poor today because anytime you give your opponent time and space, they will punish you and that was what happened today.

“Offensively too, the finishing was poor because we had a couple of chances that should have been a goal but unfortunately…,” he added.

With six fixtures to be honoured on Sunday, Hearts are currently fourth on the log with 35 points and will host Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
