A Senior Political Lecturer at the University of Education (UEW) Dr. Ebenezer Teye Amanor, has cautioned President Akufo-Addo to sack Ken Ofori to restore sanity in the economy as the ‘we have the men’ quote is only becoming a mantra.
On Monday 25th October 2022, 95 persons of the Majority caucus in parliament who constitutes more than half of the majority group said government should sack the Finance Minister least they will not take part in government proceedings.
Speaking with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Dr Teye Amanor said that ‘’I was not surprised by the actions of the Members of Parliament (MP), what baffled me was the fact that they came out public. With my conversation with you some ago I mentioned the president should reshuffle his ministers, and that didn’t happen and now his own parliamentarians have risen against him”.
‘’It sends a signal to the President and government that the legislature is also asserting themselves-they are looking at the future of the party and the country. Ghanaians have clearly stated they are not in support of the finance minister’s continuous service-the earlier the President listens the better for the party”, he added.
”I don’t see the President’s eagerness to restore the economy-Ghanaians have lost confidence in the ability of the President to deliver. The finance minister has already said he is not happy about Ghana going to IMF, so he should have resigned the day the country went for  bailout because he promised Ghanaians of a country beyond financial aid. We have the men is becoming a mantra- if they really have the men they should deliver. Sacking the finance minister will restore  confidence”, he indicated.
Dr. Teye added that the economy is failing and the finance minister have failed.
