The Greater Accra regional head of Research for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ebenezer Doku, has stated the party will lose its seat in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency if Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo is maintained as the Member of Parliament (MP).
His comment comes after Sarah Adwoa Safo responded to her dismissal as the Gender Minister on Tuesday 16th August, 2022.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show he said, ‘’everything now is about relationships and if we don’t build a solid relationship with the people, we will lose the Dome-Kwabenya seat in 2024. Winning elections is not about how well you are known because name doesn’t buy votes. The people in the constituency are very angry and sometimes we forget Dome-Kwabenya is one of the party’s biggest constituencies. She has breached the laws of the states-I believe the laws should work. We are prepared to go for by-elections. If Adwoa Safo goes out of the scene does not mean we cannot win the seat again”.
A press statement signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency on Thursday night (July 28, 2022) announced the decision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to revoke the appointment of the Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo as the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection. The minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who was the caretaker minister for the Ministry until the recent appointment of the MP for Walewale, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the former deputy Minister for Gender.
