We Will Resist Oppressors Rule- Kwabre East MP Insist Wontumi Should Be Granted Self-Recognizance Bail

The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Onyina-Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi, has declared that the minority caucus in Parliament will remain at the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) until Chairman Wontumi is granted bail.

According to the MP, Wontumi’s rights are being infringed upon, and he should be released on self-recognizance bail to attend to his health issues.

The MP emphasized that the minority is not resisting accountability but insists that the rule of law must be upheld.

He condemned the GH₵50 million bail bond as outrageous and warned that if their leader instructs them to stay at EOCO overnight, they will do so. The MP called on true New Patriotic Party (NPP) members to stand firm and fight against what they perceive as oppression.

All 88 Minority Members of Parliament have boycotted Parliament to solidarize with Chairman Wontumi at the EOCO headquarters.
