A communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kafui Amegah, has advised that the party has an election to win and not a personality to protect in the 2024 election.
Hence, the need to ensure that whatever decision the party is taking, it considers the effect of the decision on the fortunes of the party in the 2024 elections.
He spoke on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV. Explaining to Kwaku Dawuro, Mr. Amegah said that “If we say we are protecting personalities then we are shooting yourselves by the foot. What I keep saying is that when NPP is in power, Ghanaians always yield the fruit of their labour. Look at free SHS, and the reviving of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) which is offering free treatment to children with cancer. Today, you cannot compare E-blocks to the STEM schools we are building”.
“I’m pleading with the party that we should ensure that what we do and say, do not go against the fortunes of the party, like we did in 2008 which will send us to opposition”, he added.
He pleaded with the President to act swiftly with regards to the calls for the finance minister to be sacked. Hence, before he realizes, the number of MPs calling for such a move will increase from 98.
“It is putting the party in a place that is making things uncomfortable. We must all ensure that we do things to make the party attractive to others. If we are not able to do so, no matter who we present as flagbearer, Ghanaians will still vote against us”, he concluded.
