‘We’ve Worked On Our Mistakes Against Morocco’ – Black Meteors Coach Ahead Of Guinea Clash

Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko is optimistic ahead of the team’s clash against Guinea in their last group fixture in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana began the tournament with a nervy win against Congo before experiencing a major setback in their hopes of proceeding from the group stage due to a 5-1 defeat against Morocco.

The team must now beat Guinea at all costs to proceed to the next stage while Guinea who are thriving on goal difference are determined to avoid defeat to make it past the first round.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ibrahim Tanko said, the defeat is behind them as they gear up toward the crucial match on Friday.

“We have watched the last game again and have worked on correcting what went wrong. We have to put it behind us and I think the team is ready for the game tomorrow. The opponent needs only a draw but we know we have to win the game to go into the next stage”.

“We are well psyched mentally and physically to win the game. We had a good training session yesterday and the boys showed me in training that they are ready for a win,” he stated at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

If Ghana wins they will keep their hope of qualifying for the next Olympic Games alive as they seek to finish in the top three to make it to the global event after close to two decades of absence.

The match kicks off at 20:00GMT on Friday at the Grand Stade Tanger.
