A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Solomon Assante, has questioned the moral right of the NDC to speak against the 3 revenue bills approved by Parliament.
According to him, there’s no tax that brought untold hardship to Ghanaians than the condom, kayayei and cutlass taxes.
He said that the Bills which were passed were never the decision of the minority but rather the majority in Parliament. A question he keeps asking himself is that what at all does the three-tax revenue contains for which the NDC didn’t want to see it passed.
“There no nuisance tax than the condom tax, Kayayei tax, cutlass tax among others”, he said on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi Radio.
He explained that the introduction of the Income tax is to widen the tax net to ensure that even persons who indulge in betting could also pay tax. Because persons who receive gifts are even mandated to pay tax, how much more does who gamble.
“It’s bend but not broken. let’s continue to have faith and trust the government. We shouldn’t consider the NDC as an option”, he added.
