A communication team member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Kwesi Acquah has questioned the existence of the factories the NDC promised to build in its 2012 manifesto.
According to him, the NDC has no moral right to criticize the factories the NPP government is building under the One District One Factory(1D1F) policy.
He said that the narrative is different with the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo- adding that almost every region President Akufo-Addo has visited, there was a monumental project to his credit. “This is the first time in the history of Sekyerekrom that a factory has been built, and it has created employment opportunity for the indigenes. It has never happened before”.
He spoke to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV.
“So, under Industrialization and trade in the NPP ‘s manifesto, we said that we were going to develop and implement a comprehension export-based diversification action plan, and also restructure the Ghana Export Promotion Authority to enhance export and also implement the One District One Factory(1D1F), policy. Have we not done it? that’s exactly what we are doing”, he said.
Adding that “I want to draw your attention to the NDC’S Manifesto between 2012 and 2016, In that manifesto under job creation initiative, they had a subtitle name manufacturing industry. They promised a fertilizer industry to give impetus to agro development. Dawuro please, where’s that fertilizer industry they promised. Have you seen that industry. Thye also promised a textile industry and ventures in their value chain. Where’s the textile industry? Between 2016 and 2020, let’s ask if the NDC was able to create the textile industry and value chain. Again, Ceramics, tiles and glass factory. where are they?”.
He was very furious over the criticization of the One District One Factory policy by the opposition NDC.
