Ghanaian artiste Sista Afia has revealed the reasons behind the closure of her kelewele (fried spicy plantains) fast food joint, Kelevo, located at East Legon.
In an interview with ZionFelix, Sista Afia explained that Kelevo, which was mentioned during the recent public beef between Sista Afia and Efia Odo, was too closely associated with her public persona which was not good for business.
“Everyone saw that the business belonged to me. But as an artiste, I saw that if I had a business, it was best to keep it private,” she said.
She clarified that the closure was not due to financial reasons but she wanted a change of venue.
“It wasn’t about the money; I just needed a new location. The place I was at first was just a street-side stand, but now I have a shop,” she added.
Sista Afia also shared that she now operates two other businesses, one in Accra and another in Kumasi.
Addressing the challenges of managing a business as a celebrity, she noted the importance of paying close attention to all aspects, especially finances.
“It’s not easy to manage a business. You just have to make sure you pay attention to the business. If you don’t mind it, it will collapse.
“That’s why I am always keeping an eye on my business; I pay close attention to everything, especially the money,” she stated.
