The New Patriotic Party is conducting a special delegates conference to prune down the number of presidential aspirants seeking to be elected as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 General Elections to five (5) as required by the constitution of the party.
Ten (10) aspirants are contesting, with the three main contenders being the Vice President, HE Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Alan Kyerematen and the Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
One of the key supporters of Hon. Alan Kyerematen, the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi, who has been vociferous and active in the campaign of the former Trade and Industry Minister, has shocked everyone by voting for the Vice President, HE Bawumia.
This has been confirmed by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi and the Special Assistant to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Andy Owusu.
It is expected that the Vice President will win the Special Delegates Conference with a wide margin.
