Wontumi Is Not A Thief Nor A War Leader So Why The Rambo-Styled Arrest- Wontumi’s Brother

I Am A Legal Miner With Documents, You Can’t “Push” Me Out Of Business- Chairman Wontumi Warns JM

The brother of Chairman Wontumi, Oheneba Antwi Boasiako, has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the politician’s arrest by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

According to his brother, the arrest followed a dramatic confrontation outside the CID Headquarters, where Wontumi had appeared for further interrogation.

Boasiako described the events, saying, “We went to the CID headquarters again today at 3 pm. In about 15 minutes, we were done with the CID. Just when we had moved from the CID office at the entrance, we were surrounded by fully armed men in about five cars. They claimed they had been told to bring Chairman Wontumi to their office.”

After a tense standoff, Wontumi’s lawyers agreed to cooperate, and he was taken into custody. His brother expressed concern about the manner of the arrest, stating, “I wanted to go in there with my brother because I don’t know where they were taking him, but they denied me access.”

Boasiako defended his brother’s character, emphasizing that Wontumi is “not a thief nor a war leader,” and questioned the necessity of the dramatic arrest.

He praised the CID for handling the situation professionally and cautioned the government to exercise restraint in wielding power. “Power is transient. The fact that you’ve power today doesn’t mean you’ve the audacity to do things just as they please you. Government must tread cautiously,” he said.
