Christian Atsu’s three children said they would miss their father in an emotional tribute as the late footballer was laid to rest on Friday, March 17.
Atsu, who made over 60 appearances for Ghana and scored nine goals, died tragically in February after being trapped in rubble for over a week following the massive earthquake in Turkey.
Atsu’s two sons and daughter expressed their love for their father, stating that he always accepted and loved them.
They said, “We missed you, dad. You loved us for who we were and accepted us for who we were striving to become. You always made us smile and filled us with strength. Your strength gave us a sense of protection and love. Now that you are in heaven, we know that you will continue to protect us. Thanks for being our dad. We will always love and miss you. Rest well, dad.”
The former Chelsea and Newcastle United man was buried in his hometown of Dogobome.
