Okaikwei South constituency first vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Nkrumah has pleaded with President Akufo-Addo not to necessary sack Ken Ofori Atta however he can reshuffle him to another sector.
His comment comes after 80 agitating Members of Parliament (MP) called on President Akufo-Addo to remove the finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta from office.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Show with Kwaku Dawuro, Mr. Nkrumah said that ”I was a bit surprised when I heard 80 MPs signed a petition for the removal of the Finance Minister and held a press conference because their constituents are calling for it. We can all attest to current economic condition-inflation is very high, the cedi has depreciated, services of goods and services have become highly expensive. My question is did they try to have a private conversation with the President before they publicly came out? The President might be comfortable with the works of the Finance Minister but sometimes he needs to listen to the people from the grounds”.
In furtherance he stated that ”you don’t necessary need to sack Ofori-Atta, reshuffle him -make the changes and if we are still going in the negative direction the people themselves would be aware the issue is not coming from the minister or the NPP party”.
”We don’t have enough time to go to 2024 elections”, he indicated.
He added that if the President does not pay heed to the call it will be difficult breaking the 8.
